Single Malt
Single malt refers to a type of whisky that is made from malted barley at a single distillery using pot still distillation. Unlike blended whiskies, which combine multiple types of whiskies from different distilleries, single malt whisky is crafted entirely at one location, offering a unique and consistent character specific to that distillery’s process, water source, and region. Most famously associated with Scotland (as in “single malt Scotch”), single malts are also produced in countries like Japan, India, and Ireland. The term "single" means it comes from one distillery, and "malt" signifies it’s made using only malted barley, without any other grains. Single malts are often prized for their rich, complex flavors and are typically aged in oak casks for a minimum of three years, with many premium bottles aged much longer.
