Discarded is a brand of vodka that uses ingredients that would otherwise go to waste in the wine industry to make their spirits. Discarded Grape Skin Vodka, for example, is made from grape skins, stems, and seeds (pomace) that are left over after winemaking. The grapes are distilled and then combined with Chardonnay wine alcohol that's left over from the de-alcoholisation process. The result is a fruit-forward vodka with a smooth mouthfeel and notes of green apple, almond croissant, lychee, Williams pear, guava, starfruit, and pink peppercorn. Discarded Chardonnay Vodka won a Silver medal at the 2023 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
